Today marks a truly momentous occasion for cooperative societies across the globe. July 5th is celebrated internationally as International Day of Cooperatives, a day that recognizes and honours the power of collective progress, unity, and shared prosperity.
Adding even greater significance, the year 2025 has been declared the International Year of Cooperatives, highlighting the global impact and transformative role that cooperative institutions play in building inclusive economies and resilient communities.
The International Cooperative Alliance (ICA)—the global apex body representing cooperatives—is commemorating this special day with a grand celebration. The spotlight event is the Annual General Assembly of ICA, being held at the historic City Council Chamber in Manchester, United Kingdom.
This prestigious international gathering has drawn more than 1,000 delegates from over 100 countries, all sharing a unified vision to advance the cooperative movement and deepen collaboration across borders.
Representing India with pride, Mr. Jisso Baby, Chairman of Malankara Credit Society Ltd, is in attendance at the global forum. He was joined by Ms. Rose Marley, Chief Executive of Co-operatives UK, reflecting a moment of cross-continental solidarity and shared vision.
